Reckling Enters Race for Livingston County Commissioner

Handy Twp., MI – On Tuesday afternoon, a familiar face in Republican political circles entered the race to represent the new 3rd district on the Livingston County Commission. Meghan Reckling, a small business owner and Chairman of the Livingston County Republican Party, filed her paperwork to be on the ballot for the August 2nd primary election.

“After careful consideration, I have decided to run for the County Commission to provide a strong voice for the people of western Livingston County and to work with diverse groups of individuals to deliver the results people expect from their public servants. Make no mistake, we will hit the ground running,” said Reckling. “As this campaign moves forward, I pledge to maintain my uncompromising commitment to the hardworking taxpayers to preserve and promote Livingston County as an ideal place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Reckling and her husband, Mark, a law enforcement officer, reside in Handy Township with their two children. She currently operates a small business, serves on the Board of Directors for the Livingston County Foundation, and is active in the community through many different community and benevolent organizations.

After drawing new district lines due to reapportionment, the 3rd commission district contains Handy Township Precinct 1, Iosco Township, Unadilla Township, Putnam Township, and Hamburg Township Precinct 6.

“The outpouring of encouragement and support from family, friends, and community leaders has been truly humbling,” said Reckling. “I look forward to continuing the conversation with our friends and neighbors in the 3rd district to explore how we will meet the challenges and create opportunities for Livingston County in the future.
