Reckling Enters Race for State Representative in 47th District

A familiar face in Republican political circles has entered the race to fill the open seat for the 47th state house district. State Representative Hank Vaupel, is term-limited, and cannot seek re-election. Meghan Reckling, small business owner, Livingston County Republican Chairman, and former staffer for Senator Lana Theis filed her paperwork to be on the August 4 ballot this afternoon. “After careful consideration, I believe that I can offer the strong voice, leadership and ability to work with diverse groups of individuals to deliver the results that the people of Livingston County deserve. I will hit the ground running” said Reckling. “I’m looking forward to continuing to build upon my record of hard work, championing conservative causes, utilizing the networks I’ve built, and applying my knowledge of how to bypass bureaucracy to best serve my community – mainly, hardworking taxpayers and the families who call Livingston County home.” she said.

Reckling, a wife and mother of two, grew up in the small mid-Michigan town of Howell, where her parents continue to operate their business of 30 years. She attended Michigan State University studying political science, and has worked for a number of legislators, most recently as Chief-of-Staff for Senator Lana Theis.

“This state is in a uniquely difficult time. We need leaders who understand the issues and are willing to work hard to achieve the solutions. Meghan is a talented, smart, hardworking woman with a proven track record of service to the citizens of Livingston County.” Theis said. “Her ability to discern complex legislative issues, combined with her strong foundations of faith, family, and freedom will serve the people of the 47th district well.” she said.

Meghan said she is thankful for the outpouring of encouragement and support already shown for her campaign and looks forward to speaking with voters over the coming weeks and months. She encourages voters to visit her website www.MeghanReckling.com for more information about where she stands on the issues and how to support her campaign.
